When the eyes look tired, heavy, and lack their natural brightness, the issue often stems from a combination of anatomical factors rather than a single problem. In this article, we explore a recent clinical case where we performed a complete eyelid rejuvenation by addressing three distinct but interconnected issues, delivering a highly customized surgical approach.
The patient presented with a noticeable excess of skin weighing down the upper eyelids, under-eye bags with skin laxity, and a drooping upper eyelid margin. To achieve a natural, truly rested appearance, a combined surgical approach was essential.
We began with an Upper Blepharoplasty to lighten the eyelid, meticulously removing the excess skin that was hooding both eyes. Next, we addressed the lower eyelids. Through a Lower Blepharoplasty, we corrected the dark circles, small fat bags, and the loose skin that gathered, especially when the patient smiled.
However, addressing the skin alone would not have delivered the desired outcome for this specific clinical case. The key to the success of this Eyelid Lift was the correction of Eyelid Ptosis. If we had only performed the blepharoplasties without repairing the small muscle responsible for the drooping, the eyes would have remained looking tired. A drooping eyelid always conveys fatigue, even if the surrounding skin is perfectly smooth and clean. Relying on a specialized oculoplastic surgeon is crucial to correctly diagnose the presence of ptosis hidden beneath excess skin, which is often overlooked.
Just one month after the surgery, the transformation is clear and highly rewarding. The eyes, previously looking closed and heavy, are now open and visibly rounder in shape. The excess skin above and the bags below are completely gone, leaving a firm, rejuvenated contour. Furthermore, the healing process has been excellent—the scars, consisting of just two barely visible lines on the upper eyelid and small lateral lines, are already practically imperceptible.
